TR2/3/3A Broken front shock mount on TR3

I heard a rattling noise that seemed to be coming from the front left. I couldn't see anything wrong at first, but then after I got the wheel off (see attachment)... what a sinking feeling.

It doesn't look like the big 3 vendors carry a replacement, and it looks like it's a welded-on part of the frame. So, do I need to find a donor parts car, or just a good welder/fabricator?

In any case, I may have more of a rust problem than I thought. (Some of the rust color in the picture is paint, but maybe some of the rust color is really rust.)

Or maybe my adjustable shocks (on stiffest setting) are too stiff for some of the horrible streets here in town.

Sigh.

Any advice is welcome.

You should be able to find a good welder that can fix this for you.

The shock tower metal is a bit thin to be accepting stiff shock settings. It would help to weld a double thickness of metal on the top plate. A cap if you will. I don't know how well the bottom mounts will withstand this extra force. The shock mounts take a terrible pounding when stiff settings are used. Large washers over & under the top mount would help reinforce this area.

The previous suggestions of a bit of welding and a few fender washers are all good but you might also check to see if your shock travel and or solid height are too tall when the shock is fully compressed. Just seeing the top of the photo makes it look like something "solid" punched its way through that hole.

Don't fret, everything is repairable. Good advice above, just find a qualified welding shop and have them make the repairs/upgrades and you'll be back on the road.
