BJ7 Door Seal

Is the door seal applied only to the side and bottom channel of the door or is it continued over the top of the lock side of the channel until it meets the rear side trim panels.

Also, is there a seal on the front fender, between it and the door?

Hi Robert,
I didn't see evidence of any when I removed my drain channel.

Hi Robert,

The door seal continues onto the trim panel and the end is finished with a chrome U clip (see picture below).

There is a seal on the front fender. For the BJ7, it is a separate piece of the same trim that is used on the windshield pillar. The Anderson Moment book shows it clearly.

I believe there is a seal of some sort between the drain channel and rear shroud. I recall seeing something in the BCS catalog. When I install mine I think I will probably just use Dum Dum between the surfaces as needed.

Re: BJ7 Door Seal

John,

Thanks for the valuable info. What I realized was that the chrome trim strip going around the back of the shroud completely covers the gap between the drain channel & shroud, so I ended up doing nothing. I imagine that if it leaks later I will remove the chrome & seal the seam under the chrome.

Ah, that explains the question. The drain channel goes underneath the shroud. The shroud is sandwiched between the channel and the chrome piece.

Re: BJ7 Door Seal

Robert,

Greg is right .. the drain channel goes under and behind the shroud lip so there should be no 'gap'. Sounds like you may have your drain channel on the wrong side?

I'm using dum dum just to isolate the steel from the aluminum and to provide some type of seal. The seal from BCS may just be a thin rubber gasket between the chrome piece and shroud but not really sure.

Cheers,
John
