Just happened to stumble on the photos online this morning. I've always wondered if an Opel GT headlamp assembly could be modified to work.

Since the bugeye is lightweight, those could serve as "air brakes". ;)

Whitephrog, that was my first thought--that someone had grafted/modified Opel GT headlamp assemblies into the Bugeye bonnet. If it works, that would be a slick set-up.

I don't know, it just isn't the same without "eyeballs" looking back at me. It's not cute and friendly any more.

I agree, Jim.
Always thought the way to do retractable headlights would be the way they were done on the Lamborgini Muira. Just lay them back till they were flush with the body.

Saw this on Craigslist tonight.

Imagine it with body colored trim rings and reduce the girth on the overriders such that they sit flush with the body contour. ... I think I could pull it off.

Below was my thoughts on what a "Coker Bonnet" might have looked like. I may attempt to modify a bonnet within the next year to see if I can replicate that.
