I actually did get to take the 3 out again today! Repeat weather conditions as yesterday but better. The wife needed to go to the local Wal de' Mart and I volunteered to drive. When the wife came out I was sitting in the 3 and she said, Oh! We're taking this thing? (I really think My wife is jealous of all the time I spent(d) working on the 3 hence the attitude) She thought I was taking her in the fancy new 2007 Sky. I replied, You better be nice to her you know she doesn't like it when you say bad things about her. The 3 was in very good form and ran flawless both there and back. I think she was just telling the wife that she is every bit if not better than her new roommate. When we got back home the wife told me I could keep the 3 a little longer since all her stuff actually fit in the trunk. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
My wife got called in to work today and ended up working all day. So when she came home, first thing we did was jump in the 3A for a spin. Got pulled over a mile up the road for 51/35 (blah blah speedo must be wrong, it's a 1958, SIR blah blah) but it was just at the point the speed limit turned to 50 so he let me go.

When the officer asked for my license, I noticed my mastercard was gone, must have fallen out at the gas station earlier. So I called the credit card number to report it lost and sure enough the last charge (besides mine) was for a $1 lottery ticket! Suprised they didn't fill up the SUV for $50!!

Other good news is that the compression test was great at 155 across all four +-, found my vacuum advance was full of gas and not working, so I replaced it with a good spare, brought timing back a bit (1-2/3 turns advance from TDC on vernier for the TR4 engine) to stop ping on hills; mixture jets turned in two flats on front carb, in one flat on rear, synchrometerized at idle, and now runs great at all rpms with a nice smooth idle.

Tomorrow it goes up the highway for tonneau cover zippers/mods to accomodate the roll bar ($180 estimate ouch!)
 
Very good, Harry, I've always found it pays to be attentive to the womenfolk, and I envy your wife's new ride. I saw my first Sky in person for the first time today, and I much prefer it to the Solstice.

It's funny, my wife has the same attitude as yours concerning the '3; for the first time in two years, (or ever since I've had it), she went for a short ride yesterday, to pick up her Subaru Legacy wagon from the detail shop. I think she's scared to death to ride in the '3; afraid of the GMC mastadon SUVs that tower above the Triumph. The last time she was in a LBC, it was in her TR6 in high school; (a while back!). Funny enough, the car seemed to ride just a touch better with her in it! I hope she joins me again....
BTW, my trunk's full of tools and a few spares.... not much room in there for market goodies; that's what the back seat and passenger legspace is for!

Put about 90 "Triumph miles" on yesterday (a Triumph mile is about 0.9 actual miles due to non-original size tires). As my wife and I pulled out for our drive, I looked in my mirror and saw a beautiful red TR3 behind us! That never seems to happen around here, I rarely see another LBC on the road. He followed me for a few miles and then turned off with a wave and a horn beep ... neat.

Worked on the TR4 today ... having some trouble getting it re-animated (at least consistantly) from its 4+ year sleep. Maybe it just doesn't like waking up ... Had fun anyway.

I drove my TR3 for the first time in nearly a year. Backed it out of the garage so I could sand on the body. The engine didn't like the 1 1/2 year old gas and couldn't decide if it wanted to run on 2 or 3 cylinders. But it started without having to charge the battery or use ether.
As normal, a bird decided it didn't like the car and left it's opinion on the driver's seat.

Drove back from the British Invasion yesterday on the back roads through Vermont - down route 100 to Keen NH then west on 119. Beautiful drive, saw plenty of other LBCs on the way which was half the fun.

450 miles this weekend on a pint of oil and about 17 or 18 gal. of petrol. That's better than 25 miles/gal. Of course had a boot full of tools and spares that I did not even have to touch.

This is what British Motoring is all about!

The Invasion was great - a fantastic turn-out and good weather. Some real jaw-droping cars there. Made me feel pretty humble.
 
Come on Rob, no need to feel inferior, your 250 is beautiful. I hope you entered anyway to let others enjoy her.

Unfortunatley I could not make it; had a sea trial for the buyer of my Grady White, which I will miss dearly. :-( Could almost buy a restored TR for what I'm selling her for, but college calls next year for my daughter & it was the boat or my TR & besides I can always find a cheap enough something to get out on the water on.

p.s killed the Bluefish on my last day out on the Grady before the guy came by; 10-12 8-10 pounders - my arms are killing me & my hands are all cut up.

Doesn't get much better than that!
 
I didn't because when I started the car this morning it ran rough. I checked the injectors and all were working. I unplugged each spark lead and No3 plug had snapped.
I will drive it tomorrow though.

I was sitting in the office minding my own business around 5:00 and my wife walks in and says. "Hey, let's go take the Triumph out for a cruise. I haven't been in it since the clutch was done and the springs were installed and I want to see how it's running before we go to Falmouth for the Legends weekend".

The we go to the garage and she says "You better adjust the right side of the hood before we get to the show. It's too high and not even with the fender".

I think that I've created a detail freak by taking her to these shows and meets, but that ain't all bad.

I drove my TR6 today. Then again, I drive it multiple times everyday...it's my only car. Thank goodness for falling gas prices, too!!
 
Webb, she has an ulterior motive. The car is hers since new. I'm just the caretaker, so to speak, even though she hasn't driven it in several years. Although tonight she did mention that she needed a refresher in the O/D procedures. So as long as it looks good, she can be happy, if somethings wrong, it's my job to fix it or get it fixed.

Again, that ain't all bad either.....no real complaints about any budget for the car, if you know what I mean.
 
I drive my 8 almost all summer, to and from work, to the autocross, race the auto cross and home again.

My boss who likes to call herself a "strong woman" but is really just insecure is driven crazy by my 8. She bemoans, it only has two seats, does it really need that loud engine, I do not see why the girls like it. I did not think it was possible to enjoy driving my 8 more than I did until I found how much she hates "the image of you in that race car"
 
unfortunately, i havent driven the seven in almost a year, its deffinately in an undriveable state right now, no front or rear suspension, no engine, no interior....hopefully next spring though

I took mine out for a nice little 25 mile jaunt yesterday.

50 mile jaunts to and from work on Monday and Wednesday in Connecticut. A little cool, but very nice. The weekend may be a different story in these parts.
 
Sorry guys it looks like one good weekend per month around these parts and that was last weekend. Hope I'm wrong though!

Hoping to take the 3 up 67 to Woodbury this afternoon if the wind don't blow me off the road first.
