I try and drive my '3A at least every other Saturday; that's when my local club has their breakfast meetings, about a 30 mile drive from my house. I had to skip yesterday's meet, because of a long list of honeydo's. But of course, on a glorious Saturday, the TR was pressed into dutiful serveice.
On a trip to beautiful Culver City, CA, (the heart of screenland), I drove by a hupcab and wheel store. This is a place I've driven by at least 100 times in the past 10 years, but because I was missing a trim ring, the requisite light bulb went off, and I pulled in. Really now, what are the chances this guy has a matching original stainless steel trim ring?
Turns out the guy has 50,000 hubcaps in stock, but only one trim ring, completely perfect, and matching to boot! Wow, was I happy, and the owner was a simply terrific guy, with an encyclopaedic memory of both his stock, and it's location. 3 minutes and $25 later, I'm thrilled, and the car is looking happily complete again, and running real well, as well. My happy TR story of the day.
