Hi guys, I have an opportunity to buy some triple Weber carbs for a Austin Healey 3000. What do I have to do to prepare my stock 3000 BT7 for the conversion. Can I use the stock cam and lifters ? HELP !!

Depends on the manifold configuration; the offset manifolds that raise the carbs above the steering column on LHD cars require an additional hole drilled/tapped in the cylinder head (for each of the three manifolds).

Get more details and I may be able to offer you more information.

It is quite possible to use the carbs, though I think the benefit will be limited without other modifications to take advantage of the increase in breathing capability, i.e. porting the head and a better flowing exhaust.
You will also need a different linkage, of course.

The big issue is whether they are set up for a stock Healey or a modified car. The carbs are adjustable or tuneable by changing various components to suit a wide variety of applications, and some trial and error is needed to choose the best settings.

Apart from the main chokes, (the tubes the air goes through) the following parts may need to be changed:

Main jet, air correcvtion jet, emulsion tube, pump jet, idle jet, and auxiliary vent.

Since they are twin choke carbs you will need 2 of some of these items for each of 3 carbs, so it could get costly if you have to make several changes.
Do some research before you purchase!
Simon.

You will not get any significant improvement with a standard car. BUT it will use more fuel, it will sound great and it will look superb under the bonnet (hood).
Are you planning to use 45's or 40's. Either way you must get them set up on a rolling road by someone who really knows what they are doing, they must have a box full of the various jets. I've got triple 45's on a much modified engine, 210 flexible bhp, but 15 mpg!!!Still would not change back to the SU's.
