Vent Window to Windshield Gasket Length

Getting ready to reinstall windshield. I replaced bottom windshield gasket as well as side Vent Window to Windshield Gaskets. Seals are longer than windshield sides. Do I trim them off of push the seals down further so top edge of door contacts the seal as well. Right now I've got about an extra inch sitting up above the top of the windshield. Looks to me like I need to tuck them down further or I'll get rain coming in at base of the vent window / windshield seal.

Anyone got a picture of how the seal is supposed to fit?>

On my '69 it runs from the top of the windscreen frame to even with the door bodywork, not below it. The rubber is rather old and deteriorated, but it does not look like it has shrunk!

Mike so just down to the top of the door. Trying to figure out that measurement and then to make sure it doesn't develop a water / wind leak right there is a little bit challenging. The seals are held on via a hidden screw at the bottom of the channel about 2" up. How it was ever tightened is a mystery to me. Hoping that it is not needed as pressure from the door vent window will hold into place.

BTW This is on piece of MOSS Trim that fit. Windshield to body seal slipped easily into place as well when I removed the windshield end piece.

Yep, rivet discovered when I ripped out the old seal that came apart in my hands. Only way I can see to replace is with a screw. Use small tipped soldering iron to create an access hole for screwdriver in outer seal, hold screw in place with needle nose, placed inside of seal channel from the bottom, and then tighten up. Seal hole closes up and really unseen down at bottom on the seal.

Used a Dremel with metal cutting wheel to shape bottom of gasket to the compound curve at the bottom of the windshield. Just finishing up but looks good so far. Lots of smoke and burning rubber but Dremel did the job. Now to get a neighbor to come over and sit atop the windshield while I bolt down.

Need some advice on center windshield rod. How tight? Can I use initially with longer screws to pull down the gasket on the sides or do I risk cracking the windshield?
