Wedge TR8 Radio Removal

Trying to remove my Radio from my TR8, any tips? I can pull it out about 25% of the way, then it seems to get stuck? Do I need a special tool or something?

I have not unplugged anything. I was tryin to pull it out through the dash? Do i have to unplug everything first? If so, how do I do that?!

You have to get back behind the radio, if it won't pull out far enough to unplug the power/speaker connector and the antenna. If you can't reach behind, you may have to pull the console that houses the radio and heater controls in order to get to them. Not that difficult, really.

What about the interior light controls and cigarette lighter? I do not want to mess those up? Is there a way to reach around? I see there seem to be 4 screws that hold that part of the dash togther. 2 below all the controls, and 1 near each knee pad correct? Also, will I have to hard wire the radio, or does it have a plug that will fit in to the back of the radio?

I'm not sure of the count for the screws, but that sounds right. As far as disturbing the other items, if you pull the console very carefully, you shouldn't have a problem. As far as the wiring goes, I imagine the new radio will have a different plug than the original. But as long as you follow the directions that came with the new one, It should all go together pretty easily.

I was able to go through the passenger side footwell and reach all the wiring to replace my radio.

So, did u pull all the wires out before removing the radio? EXACTLY how did you remove the radio from the dash?

its been a long time, the radio in the car probably wasn't the original. but I was able to disconnect all the wiring prior to removing the radio. Then I removed the knobs and plate that held the radio into the dash opening. I fabricated a wiring adapter to use a newer pioneer radio, which had the correct depth to not stick out like some of the newer ones. It wasn't difficult, but I did use some navy talk because of the cramped working area.
