Toronto Auto Show, MG Review

Had a chance to go to the MG Review at the Toronto Auto Show. They had some great B’s and A’s all in fantastic condition. Only problem was that you could not get a close up look at the interiors or engines. These cars were more difficult to see than the 300,000.000 sports cars. You would think that with a collection of this type you would want the public to see more of the car. Owning one myself I was very disappointed that I could not get closer to them. Not being able to see the cars close up was one thing but the attitude of the local Toronto MGB Club members was another story. I’ll just say one thing. I joined that club last year after I got my “70” MGB. After speaking to one of the members at the show and receiving his attitude I will definitely not be renewing my membership. It was like I was bothering him by asking questions. He was too interested in the young girl beside me to listen to anything I was saying. I have to say that the cars that they did have on hand were fantastic.

That's funny..
That is the same attention I got from them too. When I was talking about my 74.5 GT I am restoring, the one fellow pointed at the white chrome bumper GT that was there and said, "You mean like that one." When I told him that mine had rubber bumpers, he looked confused.
But, that didn't hinder my day. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I cannot agree with you more about the attitude of the MG car club of Toronto...I was one of the first members of that club, way back when I was just a kid with an MGA....Although I did meet many great people through the club, some of which I am still in contact with, the club seamed very 'cliquey' and if you weren't 'in' with a certain group of people then you felt like an outsider. I am not saying that the enitre MG club is that way, just a few people that ruin it for the rest of us. Even at the Auto show, My wife struck up a conversation with the representative and when I came around he asked me why I wasn't a member, I gave an extremely sugar coated answer and in turn he began to pressue me to re-join....
Bottom line the MG Car Club of Toronto has become a little too political to be enjoyable for me.

As far as the auto show display goes I think it was very nicely done(especially with the old photos on the walls) The majority of the displayed cars were very good examples, but I think some could have been better.
