Still won't start! ARGH! Do you think....

UPDATE! Ok as per Blane at Moss, the fel pump CAN be used IF you remove the spacer (ugh..I already have the proper one on the way). He said they had issues "back in the day" and the heat of the engine transferring to the fuel pump caused vapor lock. This was the fix. So, now I am going to see if I can return it. I wanted to try and keep the engine pretty original if possible. Let's see if Moss will take back the old one. If not, anyone want a spare fuel pump with less than 1 mile on it for $25???

Wow..Although Blane is extremely helpful and the person who took the order sent me the wrong part when I specifially said it was a 1979 Midget and he sent me a 1977 and earlier part, I am NOT thrilled at all with customer service. I am not going to mention any names and they wound up giving me credit for the part towards a future order, but it was a pretty crummy attitude she gave me stating "We can only do the best we can when selling out parts and its not our responsibility", which I understand to a point, but geez...he made the mistake, apparently it states the year and I have placed NUMEROUS previsou orders for this car all stating 1979 Midget. if I went to Pep Boys and ordered a part and they gave me the wrong part number is it my fault??? Anyway, I guess I will write a letter to thank Blane but will be ordering from VB in the future. She made me feel liek I was trying to do something wrong. Perhaps I am too sensitive?? Lol..
 
This is in total violation of forum policy (sorry) but DO NOT ORDER from VB unless you absolutely cannot get the part anywhere else. Buy your Moss stuff from Tony at theautoist.com . He is a BCFer, he gives a good discount and he will never make you feel bad.

Tony is both Moss and VB distributor. He can get discounts from both and does pass them along.

DO ORDER FROM TONY IF YOU WISH MOSS OR VB.

For others Peter C is also a distributor as are others.

Had I sent you the wrong item & you notified me of that - regardless of the reason, yours or mine - we would've gotten you a correct one & I would've put the wrong one on my shelf as a 'used' item (I can't return it after its been installed)...your extra cost would possibly be to share the shipping because of the mixup....& if you ordered a second one & then decided you wanted to keep the one you already had, you could've returned the one you never opened.

In other words, we'd work it out....but I'm a small operation....Moss has a huge operation & has to rely on customers to order the correct item for their car......I try to double check what guys are asking for but sometimes its even hard for me to do that what with VIN # change point differences, etc.....plus, I don't know your car like you do...heck, you could have a '79 with a '75 engine.

However, I always check the part number of every item I put on my cars against the catalog to make sure its right...but, I know once its out of the box I can't return it!

& I only order from VB when somebody specifies them or as a backup when Moss is out of stock.....

Sorry for the ramblings....
 
I think what the Problems man is you own just one to many fords. You need to sell thoughs things and get some more british cars. you bee working on them all the time and you be a real shade tree mechinic then. Glad to here the problem is solve.
