Does anyone have the compassion to adopt this Stag?

When you say adopt, what do you mean? Free? If so, I'd be very intrested. It would be going to a home with two other Stags to keep it company!

Pete,
How did you spy this Stag? That is sort of a remote spot unless it caught your eye somehow driving up the very busy 101.
I'll be flying into the Bay Area 27 April to collect my daughter on the qt. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

So a short trip to Sausalito might be in order then.

I don't suppose you could grab the commission number off the windhshield plate or driver door jamb?
I could look it up in our registry as it might be one of our club members.

If you do, leave my name & phone.

Thanks!

What was your impression of the car when
you looked at it?
How much?

Oh Frankenstang57, free would be too good to be true!
I never saw a price on the For Sale sign. You'd know better that I the value of this car.

Doug, The car looks complete (except for the Ford 302 engine/gearbox ofcourse). The exterior has a little bit of surface rust on the trailing edge of the boot lid. There are some door dings. The front of the car sits about 1 inch higher than I think it should.
The interior is also complete, but starting to look a bit rough: The drivers door panel has come loose and the plastic on the steering column is worn. My impression was that the car could be started and driven away.

Glen, I see this car every Sunday when I bicycle over to Mill Valley (The car is not parked in the right place to attract attention from potential buyers).
I'm glad you posted a message here! I wanted to leave a message about this car on your website, but I'm not a member...yet.
This Sunday I'll leave a note on the car with your name, club affiliation and email (I don't have your phone no.). And I'll let you know the VIN number of the Stag. It will be great if this car finds a good home.

Thank you to everyone who contacted me.

Pete

Glenn,
Date of Manufacture is March 1971
Commission Number is LE1538L
Paint ??
Trim 43

Thanks Pete!

Well, LE1538L is a very early Stag. I am surprised it has a March 1971 manufacture date as I would have thought it was earlier.

It does not show up either in our registry or on the https://www.triumphstag.net registry. So this is a "found Stag" that I will have to take a few hours and have a look in April if it is still there.

That Stag is in the early range of Stags that probably had serious engine issues which is why it probably was converted.

So next time through, if you would, please leave my phone 303-665-6040

Yep, club web site is https://www.triumphstagclubusa.org. We have about 335 Stags registered.
I look forward to you becoming a new member! Are you planning on Triumphest?

Glenn,
I looked up Triumphest, and it would certainly be fun. Especially since it includes an Autocross.

I'm currently Triumphless, though I do hope to make a trip to NZ in a few years time to buy a 2000 or 2.5 (The 4-door Stag look-a-like). These triumph saloons impressed me with their wood dashboards and door caps, and big supportive seats. Had he lived 'till retirement, my father would have owned one.

I'll leave your name and no. on this car on my Sunday ride. It sure would be great if a member could see the value of this car and get it in out of the elements!
