Solid state turn and brake box

Randy Forbes was very helpful to me about a turn signal problem, thank you Randy. A few days ago I came across a web site with a video that showed a solid state turn and brake signal "Box" that looked like a good replacement for the existing device which in my car is located near the front left side. It clicks when the turn signal is activated. Has anyone seen this video, and if so do you know what the site is. The part seems reasonable to purchaseand if it does the job as seen in the video, may be another way around a Lucas system. Thanks for any info.

I've had the Moss DB10 Style Flasher Relay in my car for the last 5 years, then it went bad. Eventhough it's a computer board, seems Lucas found it's way in there. I'm now using an orginal Lucas. I opened it up, cleaned the points and all the wires. Seems problem free, just as the aftermarket one, (photo below) seemed to be.

So, I would not replace the Lucas unit if it's working. Just because you think a modern unit without points will be better, don't count on it. Seems here's another item one may consider adding to the spare parts in the boot.

I second AUSMHLY. I'm back to an orginal box after the modern one went bad.

Well,Within a population of units there is a small sub-group of units with latent defects that will fail. However, the larger group in the sample will be OK--Keoke

The coils went bad in my Lucas original. I had an event to get to and the new solid state one didn't arrive in time, so I made one from Radio Shack relays. If I get the time, I'll see if I can get the relays to fit in the original housing and keep as a spare. Then if it goes bad, I can just replace relays without unwiring it.

The Late Jim Albrecht pioneered this type upgrade years ago. The design is published in a write up in one of the Healey club Magazines.--Fwiw--Keoke

I am restoring a 1955 BN-1. My original was bad, so I purchased a new one from Moss. I cleaned my old flasher cover plate and replaced the new cover plate with the old cleaned one! It looks more original. With the correct Manufacture date. The new flasher cover looked too new and "tinny". Have not put power to it yet.

Good luck!
