Bought this 5 years ago. Sold it yesterday. Photo is the day I picked it up out in a farmers field. Been in the back of the barn ever since. I gave the 72 to the wife and was going to build this for me, but never had the heart to restore a rubber bumper. Well it's gone and now I'll see what's in store for the next project.

I'm not quite sure Tony. I have a lot of MGB parts to build another one, including two engines and transmissions, but I am leaning toward a TF. I know nothing about them and I need to study up on them a little more. Someone told me they made a 1600 model. Is this true? All the ones I've seen were 1500s. If I go that route, I know it's probably going to be a long drawn out project and $$$$$$. I'm just a glutton for punishment I guess. I also thought about a Morgan. Been watching your TD project with interest, when you let us have a sneak peek at it at times. Like to see more of it. Hint, Hint! Nice, real nice!

The TF was available in two models...the 1250 and the 1500.

The TF1500 is the more rare/desirable/expensive of the two.

Thanks Rick. As you can see, I know very little about them, I even had the numbers wrong. I just like the looks of the car. Where can I get more information on these cars, various specs on the different years? Are the bodies framed out in wood?

Paul, if i were going the TF route i would search and find a Great Lakes version. They were made in the 80's????maybe??? I believe made in Rochester NY and use all mgb running gear. The are so close to the original that very few people would know the difference. Its the kind of car you could drive and not worry about breaking a crankshaft or tearing up a expensive tranny. It would be a cheap way into one and you would surely have lots of fun with it. Plus you have parts lying around already. Also be sure you fit into a "T" car. They are tight. I purchased a Aurora (canadain slab side cobra)and did not fit. I loved the car but in the end had to sell it. Bob

Paul, check the fit. The T cars are very snug. When i was errrr younger it was snug. i am 6'3" and 205 right now and i know it would be a uncomfortable ride. It would probably take a while hunting to find a...ah...rebodied MGB or would it be a updated TF. Almost everyone modifies their MGB. This is just a over the top way to ride in a MGB. Bob

Look in the Moss catalog at the price of the wood body kit for that car...you want good wood in whatever you buy!

Thanks Tony, I'll certainly keep that in mind. The smart thing to do would be to redo another MGB, with the extra parts I have accumulated, but, I don't always do the, so called, smart thing. We'll see. Whatever it is, it will be an original and restored as such.

I looked up Moss's prices for the wood in a TF and I can see why Tony said get one with good wood! Aside from the fact the work involved to install it would be immense. Only problem I can see is, how do you check the wood in a car with everything covered up? That's scary.
