I couldn't get input on how to post this to the proper column,so here goes - Warning!Random thoughts ahead!

THURSDAY - I picked up the borrowed tow dolly - lights
were toast,paint shot,no tie down straps,but Hey,it was free.Took it to the local U Haul place.They didn't have straps to fit.Then I noticed the loose wheel bearings (& -
- cracked tires).I thought "NO WAY"."How much to rent a tow dolly to Washington & back?"Answer - we don't rent round trip - just one way - $206 with tax".
I had to make a quick decision,so I rented it.It really ticked me off to think about a $412 round trip bill.
Anyway, loaded up the Cortina MKIII & finally got out of town by 4:45 (I got off of work at 12:15).
I drove to Roseburg,Oregon, where the motels are more affordable + got 5 hours driving ot of the way. When I got there,a kid working at the gas station said "are you here for Graffitti?"I replied - "What's that?" He said that
it was one of the bigger car shows in Oregon.Mostly street rods/muscle cars.I checked it out on....

....FRIDAY- Went to Downtown Roseburg - about 20 cars.took
5 minutes for a quick walk-thru.Went to the local wrecking yard.There was a '74 Capri,& a late Series 1 Spitfire there
fairly complete - but a restoration project.Saw a Healey 3000 heading for the show.Cool - something British.
Got into Portland,Oregon around 5PM on a Friday. It took an hour & a 1/2 to get through there.I got tired of people cutting in line,so I took up 1-1/2 lanes. It worked
Delivered the car to my friend Micheal (McSems - he was the head of the North American English Ford Registry).
He's got some interesting carsmany for sale)- Taunus 20M,Ford Zodiac MKII,a restorable Cortina MKIII,Taunus 12M,
a really nice '72 F100 pickup. While reinstalling the driveshaft,we noticticed a few more flaws.I felt bad,but he still wanted it.

SATURDAY - Drove up to Sequiem,Washington (about 2 hours North of Olympia)Sun was shining,& the scenery was incredible!
Looked at the car (1968 Ford Cotina MKII 1600GT)
ONE owner,garage-kept,very nice condition.I drove it & decided to buy it.
Decided to check in with U Haul - tow dolly was $84
one way to Eureka. When I asked about the difference in price,he replied with something about "supply & demand".
Went to a place that had really great sandwiches.

SUNDAY - Headed back to Roseburg.Picked up a '48 Triumph - 1800 Engine/transmission (+ 2 spare transmissions)
from another 1800 owner. He's going to put the engine/transmission out of a Datsun 210 into his.I was able to keep my comments to myself.Went to leave,& the Dakota would hardly move.I was thing that I'd taken on too much weight, when I noticed that the parking brake was still on.
Intellingence still lives!Pulled into Roseburg around 10:30PM.

MONDAY- Headed home.Checked out a place just North of Grants Pass,Oregon, wherethere were a bunch of cars on this property.LOTS of Mercedes Diesels.I spotted a factory Simca Arronde pickup that's for sale for $150.There's also a
Jensen Healey on thec property.I have the guys phone number.
Got home around 8PM.

Now to do battle with CAlifornia DMV.I hope the I don't have to add a chapter to the novel that I've been writing for years - The Curse of the DMV"

Are you bored yet?

I also stopped by Portland International Raceway,
where they had Vintage races going on.Decided to eat first
("Bird's Nest" Paul).Went back to the track (it was 3:15PM)
& was told that it would be $25 to walk in.Since I was only going to be there 1-2 hours,I decided against it.
