Richmond VA 1960 Bugeye Bringing Miss Eva back to life.

My first post was in January of 2016. I have to say, that I am feeling pretty good about having a solid platform to work with now almost 10 months later. I keep adding up the build and it is staying within my budget; however, not by much. After seeing the resale prices moving up, I know I will be OK once it is done. The motor may be the real deal breaker if I cannot do it on the cheap. When I bought this car and had it stripped I was not happy with what I found. I had to lay out a plan for the body.
1 Replace the Lower Hinge Mounts L and R.
2 Replace outer sill.
3 Replace the front Bonnet Valance.
4 Purchase Rear Boot Patch Panel from England.
5 Replace the rear lower quarters and inside closing panels.
6 Replace Rear Boot Panel
The only real fab work left is on the pedal assembly area. A few small spots now that I have flipped the car back up and onto the rotisserie.
I had to get some of the body work started so it looks like I am making progress to my friends and wife.
Miss Eva is going a long at a decent clip.
Once the new order from Eastwood arrives, I will be busy for the winter.

Ordered these for the Bugeye. I needed to see some of the vision come together.
Hope they fit.

You will find by not having the drop floors for your heels to rest on will cause driver fatigue!! I cut mine out and section new OEM floor pans to get them back!!

What I discovered is that the foot is not at the correct height when the floor is flat. The effort was cumbersome for smooth pedal function! If your fabricating them I would say about 2" drop at the lowest point which is about 3" angled from the firewall.

Being that you've boxed in the leaf spring mounts, you must be planing to run coil-overs? Are you going to use a different fuel tank, I only see three studs?

I think I faked you out with the angle of the shot. I am going to convert to tube shocks on the rear. As far as the fuel tank, I am planning on using an original tank. The other missing studs have holes for bolting it already drilled. You have much better eyes and attention to detail than me. Your build is phenomenal. You can see a gloss on some of the inter fender well. I am painting areas that the body shop might not get good paint in some of the tighter spots. I am not worried about overspray on those areas.

I worked on the inside of the boot area. It was blasted, sanded, primed and painted. Paint is still drying and I have to finish painting some areas with a spray. I left it bare where the painter will blend in the interior of the BE. I am leaving the excess body filler on the hole that filled. It makes it much easier to locate and drill from the inside after the body work is finished.

When I do cars, there are areas that I redo several times. Engine compartments, underneath the floor pan, floor pans etc... It is always easier to go back after painting and touch areas back up.

Yep you sure did have me fake off, lol! I painted the center of my boot with bed liner to deaden the sound, painted the rear wings and boot floor the color of car. All I remember of that job was how tight it was crawling in their taping and applying the material, not very fun!! Looking good!!

Those are the details that are worth the effort. I was looking at the largest seller of Bugeyes and some of the pictures show color changes. Both in the boots and engine compartments. His big $ cars are done right but some of his flips cut corners.
