I agree David. It is interesting to see the twist and turns the topics take here.

Had the Sears folks out this week for an annual maintenance on the refrigerator.
I asked him about "the internet of things" as far as appliances. He rolled his eyes.
The screen in the front of the door that does it all and connect to The AlGore...when it goes bad, it's $1500 to replace...and when questioned further, SOME units won't work at all when it goes bad...but some do.
The screen is far more than we paid for the whole refrigerator.
Annual maintenance on a refrigerator?
An unreliable, networked, and hyper-expensive digital screen on a refrigerator?
This is ridiculous.
Speaking of refrigerators.
Anybody want a fully functional 1948 General Electric?
Going to the dump when my buddy's house sells.
Flawlessly. My good friend is moving to Tucson, and he really hates to see this unit go to the dump.Does it still work ok?
Actually was listening to the radio about the Internet of Things - and, while singing its praises the guest did wryly note that a recent power outage had literally shut down everything in the house....

Flawlessly. My good friend is moving to Tucson, and he really hates to see this unit go to the dump.
He pulls it out and vacuums the coils on the back once or twice a year (can't recall what he said exactly), and runs the knob to "DEF" every 90 days, and dumps the tray on the bottom.
In the garage, used for cold drinks and extra stuff storage.
Pretty sure when the power goes out in my house it pretty much shuts it down.
Pretty sure even before the everything net was invented it did
