OK,..time for the interior!

Oh,..and originally I was going to use a custom center console, I'd gotten done in brown leather to match the interior,..but the fit was bad, and the radio, lighter and such weren't positioned well,..so we're back to the original black,...I'm surprised that I really, really like it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
Ok,..I'm trying to keep myself busy while waiting for what looks like Wednesday to bring her home.

I've made an appointment to have her appraised, next week.

Do any of you have experience with this part of the game?
I plan on driving her, so I am going with regular insurance (rather than "classic"),..So we will come to an "Agreed Value",...just wondering what the process is like.

I got out of the shop on Tuesday, and have had the top down ever since.

I haven't disappeared,..work has been crazy, and the "shake-down" cruise of the mg has been "complicated". heehee

Don't expect any photos until I've worked through this part,..I'm eager to forget this part of the project /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Windshield: Somewhere during this time, the posts for my windshield got bent,..most likely while they were at the polisher's. Have gone through 3 windshields in 2 weeks, due to stress fractures. The shop broke one of the pillars, in an effort to bend it back. Thank goodness for the crappy old donor frame I bought off of ebay in the winter,..shop will use those pillars, I'll have to polish them ON the car.

PFFFT!

OK,..engine, transmission and overdrive work great!,..Well,..until the faulty freeze plug decided to pop, and flood the distributer with coolant, stopping the engine. Hmmm,..could have been worse,..oh wait,..IT WAS.
This happened in the middle lane of the expressway, tail end of rush hour, during the worst thunderstorm I've seen in a while. You can't get any wetter than I was. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Staties push me over to the breakdown area and call me a tow. Flatbed arrives, I tell them that the car has to be hooked by the rear springs, and then can be pulled up onto the truck. I go back to the police cruiser to give the boys my info,..next thing I know, the "Einstein" of a tow guy is lifting my car, by the bumper. EEEK!
Almost tore the bumper off, slightly twisted the passenger side fender.

UUUGGGGHHHHHHH!

But, I had the cops as witnesses, the tow company will pay for the repair,..but darn,..I hadn't even gotten a week out of it yet! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

OK,..she's out of the glass shop on Tuesday,..then straight to the bodyshop,..they have a crash-cart waiting for me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif


So,..only a minor rant,..the car drives like a dream, and sounds awesome! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif And considering the traffic, and the severity of the rainstorm, I think I got off lucky with just some minor damage, and my life. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Another week, and this will be all behind me!

Jerry, sorry to hear about the dumb a$$ in the tow truck! Ouch! I thought you were going to say he crushed your brake lines, but the bumper is much worse! I know we all expect them to perform flawlessly after an extensive resto, but shake down does take awhile. Hang in there!

Ok ... now what do I do ... do I offer congrates for the first drive of your beautiful car or sympathy for the glitches in getting the bugs worked out. (ouch ... including the major headache of the tow truck and rainstorm) That's just too much ... but then it could have been snow??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif

Anyway, I'm enjoying the saga ... you now have a better story than before. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ok,..today's update:

I visited her in the glass shop today,..they've cracked 3 windshields, since Friday, trying to get it right.

I think it's kind of funny. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

They've switched windshield brands, and hope to have it to me by Weds.

This is yet another service shop that'll be happy to see me leave. (mwahaha,..another victim!)

hmmm,..now who can I frustrate next? lol

Anyway, ..all is fine, car looks better as each day passes, bodyshop will have me done in 2 days after I get it to them,..so things are looking up!

Three over the weekend?? wow... are the rails definitely straight?? Or are they just doing something that's causing it to happen? I haven't had to change my windshield yet, so I don't know if this is 'normal', but breaking 3 over the weekend seems a bit extreme, doesn't it?

They're blaming it on inferior glass. I'd don't really think that all of the mg windshields in Boston were defective,...but,..who knows? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I've given them 2 frames to work with,..they'll figure it out. (hopefully before winter)

I just bought another on ebay,..will have more than I need /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
