TR6 need a plug for my late model tr6 head

anyone know what size thread for a plug to go into where the egr used to be? this is for a 74 tr6 head, thanks guys! apparently hardware stores no longer carry hardware......or auto parts stores either.......go figure

From my PO who did the same thing, this from an old post of his "... the EGR port in the cyl head takes a 3/4-UNF thread (so it's not a pipe thread). I used a set screw of that size. That's one of those screws/bolts which has no shouldered head but rather a recessed Allen wrench fitting. Makes for a cleaner looking install. I had no trouble getting this set screw from a local fastener shop (look up fasteners in the yellow pages, and bring the EGR valve jam nut along if possible to positively match the thread). I was able to install it on my car so that the top of the set screw is flush with the cyl head surface..."

As stated it's absolutely flush with the block, as though it came from the factory that way! Not a great picture, but you can see the result above the rear carb here.

EDIT: Not a set screw, but it works fine.

It's a brass plug, not a fastener that holds anything together and after a lot of miles it's just fine.

really brass? It could well be plaster of paris painted to look like brass.

Randy, I think that's it. I took the EGR with me and matched it up.

Dale, the plumbing and hardware sections aren't too bad at Lowes. I'd never by grade 8 bolts for my driveshaft there, but for a brass plug, it's OK.

They also have a nice selection of fender washers and clips that can come in handy from time to time.

I buy their masonry screws to hang paintings,
that's about it. Oh, they have a decent selection of ornamental bricks.
