Pretty cold out in the garage so I though I would do a few smaller projects to get them out of the way. Decided to go ahead and refurb the clutch/brake MC and the windscreen wiper motor. Here are a few pics of the projects.

Downright Cozy Don :smile:

Last night is was about -20 C (-27 C with the Windchill).....the garage is pretty drafty to say the least. I do have a small 240 V electric heater in there but it is struggling to keep up. I did have it up to about +10 C ( about 50 degrees F) and it is comfortable enough to work out there.

it'll fit thru those doors fine. I also have a 3'0"-7'0" just out of view
















Of course I also have 2 standard 8'garage doors and a 10' garage door if it gets angry

Everything looks fantastic.
Are you going to use DOT5? I've used it for a few years now as I repainted everything as you've done only to have a leak from the bottom of the resevoir that followed the pipe to the Brake cyl and down the pedals etc...had to remove everything and redo.
If I were you and using dot3/4 I'd test the res for holding fluid before installing.

Yep, going with DOT5. I use it in my TR6 and have had no issues.

How did you refinish that wiper motor to look like that? What did you do, and what paint or finishe did you use. Looks great.
 
Hi KVH,

Two ways that you could do it.

1st way is the easier way and it is more "cosmetic" than anything. You could just clean and scuff the surfaces with a scotchbrite pad and wipe clean with a degreaser/paint prep solvent...I use PRE from Eastwood in the areosol format. Tape off the areas and paint in two stages. For paint I used Eastwood Alumablast and Eastwood Underhood Black (+ their slef etching primer).

2nd way and the better way if you are looking to do a full refurb is to take it all apart and give it a thorough cleaning....take out all the old hardend grease etc. Check the wiring and replace/resolder as required etc..check/replace the contacts etc. You can then take the casing/body/capping etc to the blasting cabinet (if you have access to one). I used aluminum oxide to clean the parts before painting. I was thinking of keeping the aluminum casing natural as it cleaned up really well but I think that the paint will hold up better in the long run. Re-assemble with fresh grease and you are good to go.

Ok, todays project was to clean up the carbs and intake manifold as best I could.

Here are some "before" photos of them test fitted to the engine and the intake before being blasted with aluminum oxide.

That does it - Tush, exect to receive a big honking box full of 3 or 4 cars worth of stuff to get "the Pied treatment".
