I have noticed that the front square tubing cross member on my frame has a nice dent in it from years (not me!) jacking right on this part of the frame. I have always used scrap plywood to jack against, extended over to the rails of the frame to prevent this from getting worse. No, it's not rusted. There is plenty of oil and Waxoyl on it for it to ever rust. I have thought of fabricating an H-shaped piece of 1/4" steel plate and either welding it to the bottom of the frame or U-bolting it in place. Has anyone had this problem and what is your fix?

Now, my car is lowered an inch and that 1/4" extra lowering may pose a problem. Hmmmmm.

It's dented, not broke, paint it and forget about it.

But if you are good at horizontal welding on a vertical plane and like overhead welding, cut a piece of 3/16-1/4" plate to just match the frame and zap it on. It will add strength where not necessarily needed, but at least you will sleep better night.
