Re: Help! Weber 40DCOE throttle problems Update

Do you guys make those big speakers they strap onto Hueys to play "Ride of the Valkeries?"

Re: Help! Weber 40DCOE throttle problems Update

LOL Nope we are the student driver academy of Army Aviation. We teach all Army (wanna be) helicopter pilots how to fly.

Re: Help! Weber 40DCOE throttle problems Update

AHHHRRRRRG, ok installed the new F16 Emulsion tubes, and it actually ran worse if that is possible!!!!
Does the exact same thing. Calling weber tomarrow!
#$^%&%&^*^(&)()$)## Piece of #@!@
This makes no sense.
Might have to ship it back to weber for a diagnostic.
*sigh*
Will try playing with the different main jets and air correction jets.

Re: Help! Weber 40DCOE throttle problems Update

Don't forget that when using an aftermarket carb the stock timing is not always the best. The best way to do this is to get an air fuel ratio gauge and take the guess work out of it. Webers do not like the stock timing settings. Just my opinion. Chris

Re: Help! Weber 40DCOE throttle problems Update

Just got this out of my weber book, jetting for Mini Cooper with 1275. 38 venturi's 5.00 aux venturi F16 emulsion tube 1.60 mainjet sealed air corrector 0.45-F9 idle jet 0.50 pump jet 1.75 needle valve.

What fuel pressure are you running?

Re: Help! Weber 40DCOE throttle problems Update

In the other thread I *quietly* suggested staying with the 45 venturi and just getting the larger chokes, IIRC.

I suspect pressure isn't an issue here.

EDIT: For some reason I can't locate my Weber literature. Izzat the J. Turner books you're lookin' in, 68Sprite?

Re: Help! Weber 40DCOE throttle problems Update

Sometimes the basics can bite you in the butt. Thats the only reason I ask. "Customer says my car won't start, mechanic says, is there gas in it."

Re: Help! Weber 40DCOE throttle problems Update

Fuel pressure is 2.5 psi.

Re: Help! Weber 40DCOE throttle problems Update

I am going to start playing with combinations and see what happens, Lord knows I have extra parts to play with. Maybe I will get lucky on a different combination. Still giving weber tech a call today.

Re: Help! Weber 40DCOE throttle problems Update

Will definently try the 4.5 aux venturis in the combination of stuff i have.
Thanks for the help everyone! any more ideas throw them my way. will let you know the results.

Re: Help! Weber 40DCOE throttle problems Update

OK just got off the phone with the weber tech, we went through everything. Everything I have on the carb in the way of jets and venturis is good, EXCEPT the disharge pump valve. I have bought a 50 discharge dump valve and it is SUPPOSE to be closed. I had a new one I ordered cause I wasn't sure what it had in it. So he told me that when I hit the throttle hard half of the fuel is bleeding back into the fuel bowl. He said there should be no hole allowing a full stream of fuel when the butterflys open. I suggested JB Weld to close the hole, he agreed but said to make sure that the JB Weld does not go in so far that it contacs the one way check ball. I have plugged the hole and the ball moves freely. I am letting it set for 24 hrs, then I will install it and see what happens. Shot down by a pin hole!

Keeping fingres crossed.
