Healey blue paint code

Hey all,
Does anyone have the paint codes for Healey blue ? My paint
dealer is a PPG dealer so hopefully that code is available.

Does anyone have the paint codes for Healey blue?

Paint codes is another subject about which I know very little. However, when I had my BN2 painted a few years ago, I found that those who have paint formulas, which closely match our cars' original colors, are protective of this information. Generally they will sell you paint, but not the formula.

They cite the lengthy and expensive trial-and-error process to get a good match, which is then occasionally foiled by new laws and regulations that prohibit some ingredient that they were using, thereby forcing them to go back to the drawing board. This surprised me because I had thought that by now all of the necessary data to mix these paints would be easy-to-obtain public knowledge. Apparently not so.

I like the Healey Blue used on my BN2 a few years ago. John Wilson of "Healey Lane Restorations" in Marcola, Oregon, mixed the paint. However, I have seen a very wide range of Healey Blues in my time, many of which look fine, although they are certainly different. It's best to find one you like, have yours painted to match, and then never park your Healey Blue Healey next to another one painted Healey Blue.

Thanks y'all for the help ! I had found those old paint code cards on line,
even an old PPG/Ditzler one. Went to the paint store today and they were
able to use an instrument to shoot my existing paint ( like at HD) so we'll see how good that turns out.

I liked Reids comment about never parking your Healey blue car next to another, I know it is hard to tell from old pictures, but then as now it seems to me there was a lot of variation in the color, some with more grayish overtones, some more blue, lighter and darker etc.

Most paint shops seem to have the computer match capabilities from a sample,

Lastly, old paint formulas generaly don't translate straight over to modern paint formulations, making things more difficult of course.

Here is the phone No. of a body shop, (613)394-1717, who did the initial spraying of my restored BJ7 to my utmost satisfaction : and then matched exactly it 4yrs later to cover a damaged section. I gave him the BMC number for Healey BlueBU2)from which he obtained the formula via the computer. He is located in Trenton Ont.Canada.

I think the code is also known I beleive as ARGBU2, there is a period in there, somewhere I think. ARG stands for Austin Rover Group, I think that is the PPG code.

I need a little bit of Healey blue to do some touch up a couple of chips. So I phone up the old owner me told me they took the old trumk lid to a paint shop and did some kind of computer match.

Never did manage to find any touch up paint

I just went thru this exercise and ended up using Glasurit paint because they could come up with a BU2 paint code that looked origional. I tried to go with a single stage rather than base coat/clear coat but had no luck at all. My car is blue with white coves and after 8 days of priming, sealing, base coat, clear coat, masking and assembling the car the painting is finished! Now for the color sanding and buffing. Hey y'all,
Thanks as usual for all the help. My local paint store is a PPG dealer so
they tried to see about using the old codes but no luck. As I mentioned earlier,
shot the boot lid with their instrument and mixed up a batch. Was close but
had to add more of the silver toner to get it right. Pretty much trail and
error but got it close. Just shooting the inside of the boot lid but will
experiment some more to get it close enough to do some other touch up if needed.
