Do these belong in a 65 BJ8 ?

I am trying to get my parts for the convertable top all
cleaned up and organized, ( My car is supposed to be ready at the body shop on Monday ! ).

I found these two pieces of wood in with my convertable top parts. I cannot seem to find them in the moss catalog. These may be off of an MGTD or MGB instead of my Healey BJ8. I do have the four pieces of wood that go over and around the window openings. Does anyone recognize these pieces of wood ?

Yep Ed, they go in there . They are the side pieces located at the rear of the rear quarter panels. They bolt in place through the rear wheel arch.---Keoke

Thanks for the quick reply. Are they on one of the Moss cataloge pages ? I'll have to get some on order from somewhere in a hurry or I will be trying to fill the rotten places with fiberglass or epoxy tommorrow.

Don't know about moss piccy, but as you can see the small headed bolts really do a number on those pieces. What I did was replace those bolts with SS carriage bolts to provide less concentrated pressure on the wood. Its OK to repair them they end up covered with vinyl anyway. Oh, They fit immediately adjacent to the outboard sides of the fold down luggage panel. ---Keoke

OK if you look at Mosses online catalog "Seat Kits" You will see them just peeking out from the edges of the drop down luggage rack

These pieces form part of the rear seat backrest frame. They are made from Mahogany, and have two tee-nuts installed prior to covering in vinyl. They are then attached to the rear backrest frame and machine screws come through the rear wheel arch, through the rear quarter panel and into the tee-nuts, which are one quarter x 20.

Do these pieces help hold the convertable top in place ?
Or are they just for rear seat support ? My car is not at home now so I can't just go out in the garage and look at it... Can I install these blocks AFTER the convertable top is reinstalled back on the car ?

Totally unrelated to the top ED. Yes can be installed after the top is in place.---Keoke

Having them attached to the backrest and it out of your way makes the top install a lot easier.

Yes it is Greg. And I don't seem to have the box lid with the picture of the completed puzzle.
The good thing is that I am about to run out of puzzle pieces so I must be almost done ?
