...Remember the thicker Pro-Race damper requires modifying your front cross member for clearance.
I didn't have to modify mine.Got that from Denis Welch's description.
From the pix above it doesn't appear to be true.
Neither did I, but I'm thinking that I had to raise the engine up enough (couple inches?) to get clearance to put the socket on the crank-nut. Whatever the distance lifted, it didn't require anything to be disconnected.I didn't have to modify mine.
Sorry about the expensive part, but mine looked good too before it came apart. Now you guys have me worried. I'm in the middle of building 3 BJ8 engines right now. Including Laynes engine. The dampers I have look good but now you have me thinking. Thats bad and expensive.

the rubber gets old and brittle over time. Maybe lasts a lot longer then tire rubber but I'm sure there's some sort of useful life but who knows. There's always money and time if it comes apart for repairs but why do a job twice.Sorry about the expensive part, but mine looked good too before it came apart.

I have been unable to find a healey damper at BPnorthwest.com. They may have had it listed at $275 when this thread started, but it is no longer even mentioned on their website. Google has a cached image of that price, but it is unfortunately not available currently.
