D would anybody be able to tell the correct way to static time a essex v6 I have tried and failed cheers garth

Would anybody be Able to tell me how to static time a essex v6 I have taken distributer out some time ago placed it back won’t start thanks garth
 
Number 1 cylinder at tdc, Check dizzy for correct #1 to that cylinder. Sometimes try 180* off. Move wires if you have to. Use a test light on points to set dizzy also. Have been known to use trial and error.

As said above, but I would remove the valve cover on #1 side and watch the valves “rock” to be sure you are on the correct stroke.
Skinny screw driver also helps as the piston comes up the bore.
