Brake line replacement

Partly off the subject I know, but:

There's something about both the brake and fuel lines on Triumph cars.

For example, the flare nut at the gas tank and at the fuel pump, is not a standard fitting available at any local outlet.

No regular standard or metric fitting will work.

I just can't recall, but are those either some odd pipe thread or maybe whitworth? Can anyone recall?

Like the oil line fitting on the gauge. They are what is called British Standard, or British Pipe.

Didn't Dale just have a fuel line built off the shelf at his parts store? I find it wierd if these are different parts that they had them!

DNK- Nope I had to have some of the fittings and the
fuel pump threads machined so they would accept
off-the-rack parts and standard fitting threads.

First the threads are UNC or UNF threads, not Witworth or SAE. The ISO/Metric flares are an angular 37 degrees as opposed to British (AN) angular 45 degrees. This is why sealing is difficult when mixing in metric flares - the flare nut is trying to keep a 37 degree when the receiving side is 45 degrees. Then the British AN uses a bubble flare to a SAE inverted flare.

Actually the Dimebank garage has the best article relevant to LBC's brakes and differences to Metric and SAE
https://www.dimebank.com/tech/BrakePlumbing.html

I recommend ClassicTube.com. They do pre-bent lines for Triumphs.

Bookmark the DimeBank for future reference!!

Cheers!

Those are the copper/nickel brake lines that I run in my TR6. I got the kit from Moss. Fit well, no problems, very easy to install. No bending tool needed.
