assembling doors

Do those out there that have put in door glass/assembled doors before, is it alright to put all the hardware on the door but not the glass. I don't have the waist seals/felt seals yet, but would like to get the rest of the stuff together. Also, I don't have door locks. Can they be fit on after all the latch mechanisms go on...etc. I don't want to install all the stuff then have to take it all off to get the locks on.

Car is a 1968 MK IV Sprite

Thanks again...Drew

It's a lot easier to fit the glass when there's not too much else on the door, as you have easier access. Wait until you have all the parts to reassemble it, as you can guarantee that the one piece you are waiting on will require most of the bits off the door before fitting...
Just looked through the Lindsay Porter book, in disassembly sequence the glass is almost the last thing off the door, so reassembly would put it almost first.

kinda what I figured, but it's hard not to get excited and want to put it all back.........you know, then to bang up the new paint job when you have to take it all apart after wrestling with it because it's all back!!

Thanks much - Drew

man, I had a hard time getting the drivers door to line up correctly....but it's ok. Not perfect gaps, but it will suffice.

Don't sweat it, I've yet to get mine lined up: I've been waiting for a full day to get in the garage and sort them. Already spent a couple hours on them, but at least it's one of those jobs that only need doing once!
