The small block Ford does no weigh that much more than the stock 1800cc block...and if you use aluminum heads. you can decrease that weight.
One of the only drawbacks is having to modify the front crossmember to get the block low enough to close the bonnet and have room for the sump.
There is a LOT more aftermarket support for the SBF vs the BOPR block.
