The orange can be painted over.
Consider size and weight first. Then the fact which has the nicest FI possibilities

The small block Ford does no weigh that much more than the stock 1800cc block...and if you use aluminum heads. you can decrease that weight.

One of the only drawbacks is having to modify the front crossmember to get the block low enough to close the bonnet and have room for the sump.

There is a LOT more aftermarket support for the SBF vs the BOPR block.

Modifying the cross member is no problem, along with any other modifications that might be needed. Not that I want a screamer, but I know some people in the racing game, might be able to pick up something there when I'm ready, like the alloy heads. Thanks for the input. PJ

What's the weight diff between the Ford and Cheby?

The Old's motor is 200 lbs lighter than the Ford 302?

Available through D&D as an aftermarket item.

Will this fit in a "B"?

As far as I can tell, the SBF will add about 40 pounds to the weight of the car. But, with the elimination of the bumpers and going with fiberglass replacements, weight wise, it won't change that much as far as the suspension is concerned.

Check out https://www.britishv8.org ... several posts with pics.

You can also contact Pete Mantell.

His website is https://www.mantellmotorsport.com

Thanks Rick. Lots of information on the British V8 forum. But, I think and like, the Mantell 302 kit! Cross member, headers, rear transmission mount, which appears to be top quality workmanship! I'm almost wishing that I didn't have this TF to finish! Not really, just joking. Thanks again, especially for the Mantell web site. PJ

Pete's a good guy. I've known him since 1999.

He lives about 2 miles south of me.

Woody at the Wedge Shop in Taunton, MA has rebuilt Rover 3.5 liters for sale. Will build to your specs. He answered questions I had about using a TR8 engine and 5 spd as a starting point. Here's his response to my questions:

Mike to do a long block to make that power would cost about 2850.00, this would be for a long block which is block, heads, cam & lifters and timing chain. Would be between 10.1 – 11.1 compression, ported & polished heads, Big high flow valves and valve spring to match the camshaft. This motor should make between 240-260 HP with correct intake, Carb and ignition system. Also Lightened flywheel would help also. You can use the Edlebrock intake but it may have to be milled down a bit. Rebuilt trans with no core would be 1100.00 Hope this helps, Call anytime for more detail if you want.

Thank You

My choice of transmission was the World Class BW T-5 with a 0.63 final gear.

I have it linked to a Ford 8" differential with an Auburn 3.27 posi.
