1960 AH Sprite

The same car is listed for sale in Sarasota, FL and Columbia, MS for a different amount...they even used the same pictures.

Oh crap! Call your bank first thing in the morning.

<oh oh> :nightmare: Can a receiving bank get involved?

And as I've cautioned many times before, don't buy a car which you haven't seen yourself, or at least seen by someone you trust.

A few months ago I spotted a beautifully prepared MGB/GT V8 at a ridiculously low price. I quizzed the seller on two occasions and only heard back from him on my first inquiry. The second inquiry that I made was requesting a day and time that I could see the car in person ..... CRICKETS .....

A few weeks later I spotted that same car with the same photos, advertising from a different part of the country. I then sent that link to a friend of mine and asked him to pose as a potential buyer but his inclination was that it truly was scam so he refused to jump into the fray.

All of that nonsense took place on the same site where this Bugeye is advertised.

At that point I was about to alert the authorities about the advertised BGT but my friend with a cooler head suggested that I stand down, which I did.

I noticed that in one place this car is listed as coming from Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana and in another place it is listed as Richmond Virginia.

I am hoping you have not been scammed, and that this turns out to be the sweetest Bugeye deal on record.

After reviewing that site ("Hot Muscle Cars"), there are MANY other cars with crazy-low prices (and I'm not talking about initial auction prices like one sees at BaT). Looks like a hot-bed of scammers. For example, this impossibly low price on a big-Healey (1958 100-6), https://www.hotmusclecars.com/details.php?id=6208&search_id=59436, has at least 3 ads and all with identical copy, and all list the car in vastly different locations around the country (and I'm told the photos are from an eBay ad).

One thing the Internet has helped us with - finding things for sale that might not really exist.

"He who sells what isn’t his’n, must buy it back or go to prison.” - a noted investor who'd been around the block more than once.

If the "seller" has already received the money in his bank, he's probably already withdrawn it and headed to parts unknown.

Was just advised by icarsdepotbroker.com that vehicle will be shipped Monday by enclosed trailer. Driver is to phone me about 4 hours prior to arrival. He is to have title all signed for transfer and I have 10 days to reject contract.

The site shows ever instance of a type vehicle on line for sale, thus the various prices and more than one listing. This one was ready for a new home and was located in the company's warehouse rather than a customer.

Was there any indication of why the car was listed as residing in about 5 different cities all across the country? All the prices I saw were the same.

I am hoping that this deal turns out all right for you money wise or car wise, but I have a hard time believing it.
If it was me I would try to contact both banks and see what what they have to say.

I've tried that site and always get "The site can't be reached. Server IP address could not be found".

Can anyone else reach the site?

Nope. I did turn up some related Russian and German sites, but can't otherwise go directly to it.
Getting very curious.

The car is also listed (identical ad copy) at: http://classiccarsexport.com/austin...or-frogeye-sprite-fully-restored-amazing.html (though with many more photos).
Original ad makes reference to restoration at a "local shop"... but, again, it's listed as in about 5 major locations (some across the country - Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Atlanta and more).

I do hope that this turns out ok for Jack but this is looking more and more like a scam. Sounds like they are buying time by replying about shipping. If it sounds too good to be true it usually isn’t.

Guess we will see. but many references on the web concerning carsbroker depot.com
note is s on cars and space between broker and depot.

Lots and lots of stuff comes up.

Jack - that's a different website from the shipper you posted earlier.

Ah, right... found them. Yes, seems to be a reputable company (if that means anything). Still, the ads for the Sprite sure seem odd (and make no sense to me - notably, why anyone would restore and ship a Bugeye for $4400). You'll soon see. Hopeful.
