HELP!
Just had my bonnet off in prep for the Vintage Festival at Lime Rock this upcoming weekend. And, now am having a fit re-fitting it. Any tricks, special techniques? I know I should have drilled some small holes thru the pivot points for alignment, but well, I didnt. Its just a matter of up, down, in, out......ughhhhhh

Now if you would've asked me before you took it off, I would've stressed the 1/8" holes trick.

The only thing I can suggest now, is Valium...

Is there any chance that the last setting is "scratched" into the paint (via the nuts, washers or bolts)?

Went through the same headache putting things back in order at the beginning of this race season, open, shut, open, shut, adjust, adjust. I was happy with it on the 5th or was in 6th time...............cold beer or red wine can't quite remember. You need to check out the racing form, I need another big Healey in the group. How about some pics. vids., and updates on your Lime Rock success. I'll do the same on our SOVREN Columbia River Classic. The AH Bonneville Cars from Australia will be on display before they leave for Utah.

We might have rain over Labor Day, this is last year.....................a little slick.

Belleville washers....

Belleville washers are usually conical or "wave" spring washers that apply a gradual pressure as they are tightened under a nut/flat washer.

If you don't have any Bellevilles laying around, try inserting the bolt through the pivot arm and hood bracket as you normally would, then before you put on the nut, sandwich a garden hose washer between 2 fender washers.

Adjust the hood to pivot arm so that the hood is in maximum UP position and tighten the nut fairly tight.

Close the hood and firmly PUSH the hood down/back until it is in the correct position.

Then open the hood and, ONE AT A TIME, replace the fender washer sandwich with lock washers and torque the nuts..

I have not used this on my 100-6, but it has worked well on several other cars, especially my 65 & 66 Mustangs where aligning the hood is a nightmare involving not only the hood attach points, but engine bay mounted movable hinges.
