MGB-GT Next Project 1967 GT

Bummer on the setback.

"Coming off in sheets"?!?

What th' heck caused that?

Hopefully the shop eats the added expense?

It's not this shops fault.

The car has a long restoration history. Someone bought it in late 80's as a possible project along with a second 67gt. The pair were then sold to another guy who started restoring this car as a father son project in 91 when I was still a freshmen in high school. The engine bay was painted at that time by another body shop as it turns out somewhat poorly. For some reason the work stopped till 2011 when the guy figured out that it would never be finished under his watch and sold it. It then bounced around a bit before I got it and it looks like I'll be the one to finally finish it.

wow. Quite a tale.

A bit more progress.

Lookin' good, Stew.

Certainly better than the paint off in sheets problem of earlier! Looks real nice from here.

Sure is RED!

And that painter is GOOD - not a drop on the Mercedes or the other one next to it! :jester:

Engine bay and trunk have finally been repainted and the polishing process has begun.

Very nice!

Is that a Dunlop-style alloy wheel on the front?

Fantastic. Was considering a set of those for my B before I sold it.

Polished and getting close to leaving the shop

Yer putting me to shame with this quality. Looking real good.

Stewart, If I bought another B, it would be a GT! Looks like you have a nice example of a true classic! Only one addition I would consider to these cars is air conditioning. With the new mini compressors on the market, they draw very little power from the engine which was the major drawback in the older systems. Good luck with the car! Looks like your well on your way to driving a beautiful example. :encouragement: PJ

Driving by June? :cool-new:

That looks great! You're making me wish I hadn't passed up on a RHD GT last year...
