On Wilwood calipers, do you turn the bigger brass thing, or the smaller black thing to bleed?

You turn the black nipple, then fluid squirts out of the center of it. The brass pieces should just be bushings. If the bushings are turning, you might want to pull them out and put a little thread sealant on them and then reinstall them. This is assuming that they thread in and are not cast or pressed into the caliper body. If the bushings are spinning easier than the nipple, you will have to back them up with another wrench so that they don't spin. Be careful tightening everything back down. Brass is a soft metal and the aluminum caliper is even softer. It's very easy to cross thread.

Darrell, you know you have to do both per side ,right?

I fitted mine with speed bleeders

@Todd,

Thanks, neither is turning at the moment, just wanted to check before I messed something up. There appears to be some kind of red sealant on the brass part.

@Don,

Yes, both sides on the end pointing up. Did the speed bleeders replace just the black part?

Both sides of each caliper (on the end that is up).

To long ago.I'll see if I still have the packages.
I don't use "SpeedBleeder" brand .I just get them from NAPA.
I'll go down right now ,also measure the seat bottoms

Thanks,

Note that some of the Wilwood calipers will actually have 4 bleeders but you only need to bleed from the bleeders at the top (uppermost). The other unused bleeders are there so that Wilwood doesn't have to make a separate left and right caliper. It you want to get really fancy with a flare tool and going to be driving waaay faster than you should, you can make a crossover tube to connect those lower two fittings for better performance.

Well that explains a lot ... time to go out to the garage and bleed them correctly.

Thanks,

George

Darrell,
Sorry to change the subject. Are you guys using the GoodParts kit? Or is there a Wilwood caliper that will fit without a special bracket? In other words a direct replacement.

Thanks,
BOBH
