I'm not particularly hopeful that it will arrive, or that it would arrive here, or that it would be a good car. Still, I wish them the best -- would be nice to see the MG badge on something interesting again.

Using a multi vehicle platform?? I'll withhold judgement until there is a published design, but something like that could be too much of a compromise and just ok at everything. Plus, design will depend not only on the mechanicals but on how well the designers, engineers and bean counters understand the original concept.
Yeah, END OF THE DECADE??? And they announce it NOW? Like, we're supposed to wait with bated breath for the next friggin' five years? And, then, it will be a "platform" which will morph into a number of cars. Sounds about as exciting and with as much mistique as a Ford Focus.
The MG as we know it is gone foever. The MG that was built for a time in japan looked and was for all purposes just another Miata it looked like one and was so simular they could not be seperated.
The mistique of the MG is based on it's Brittish heritage. And that has been lost forever.
For this reason I am against ANY modification of the original design of these dwendling numbers of athentic cars
