TR6 TR6 Shock Conversion Kits

Hello all,

I am planning on replacing the rear shocks in my TR6 with a tube shock conversion kit. There are 3 or 4 different designs that I know of, has anyone had good and or bad luck with any of the kits?

You should get quite a few opinions on this topic. I'm making a similar decision and chose the bracket from Moss Motors that attaches to the lever shock mounting bolts. I liked the closed top design as compared to some of the other offerings.

British Parts North West makes the most popular conversion, the one-piece unit that comes with the KYB shock. I converted to a Spax shock for better ride and control.

I got mine from BPNW and am very happy with the results. They also happen to have the best price for the KYB version. ($150)

I will agree with the unit that bolts into the existing shock mount holes. Some may argue that you don't have as solid a base. If you are planning to race, the mounting into the body design may be better. But for a daily driver, bolt in, in my opinion, is the way to go.
If it ends up you want to go stock again, you haven't altered the body in any way.

Most racing organiztions won't allow you to change the shock mount locations for production class racing. Unless they have gotten a bit more lax on that.

i went with the Blind moose conversion brackets https://www.blindmoosefab.com/rear_shock.htm along with Koni shocks, very happy with the conversion.

I used the kit from Victoria about 20,000 miles ago. Took less than an hour to install and has worked fine since.

Same as TR6BILL-- BPNW conversion with spax shock. The KYBs are usually too stiff for most. The BPNW conversion allows a little more room for tires and wheels than the other conversions, I run 7x15 with 225/60/15 with no problems. BPNW has the best price on Spax shocks, they might sell the kit with Spax instead of KYBs.

I got the kit from Moss motors as a Christmas present but with out the shocks, BPNW has the best prices for Spax but I don't know which shocks to order for the back. Does anyone know??

For those that have done a rear shock conversion, what is biggest benefit or difference. My suspension is all polyurithane and the springs are the "race" versions. The stock shocks are in good working order and so far I am very happy with how the car handles. But for $150 from BPNW I might be game.

FWIW, Richard Good still runs lever shocks on his hopped up TR6. That says something.
