TR4/4A TR4-A Electrical Question [Again]

Could someone identify the TR4-A electrical components pictured below (the two condensor-like items). They are mounted on the right side firewall bulkhead below the control box). The wiring diagrams I have do not make reference to them that I can tell.
Also, could someone point me to an accurate wiring diagram for a TR4-A. The ones I have seem to be about 50% accurate -I think the wiring in my car is pretty close to original, but not much matches my diagram. I have a factory service manual but my copy contains diagram of TR-4 only - no A.
Thanks
Glenn

Those items do not look original. I could swear that if you cleaned them up a bit they would say Germany, and have the Bosch insignia along with a Bosch part number on them. The original diagram that you showed from the other post was from Advance Auto's wiring diagrams. They are as about as accurate as you're gonna get. If you have something different, it was most likely installed or changed by the previous owner.

Perhaps those items were installed for radio suppression from the generator.

In any case the simplest thing would be to disconnect them and connect the 2 Brown/Yellow wires to the D post on the voltage regulator.

I don't see it as stock either. Rather savvy electronic previous owner trying to smooth/steady voltage flow. The wiring looks stock...so the color coding on the wiring will find you the components.

Rather heavy gauge wire connecting these components so given the car is DC and that they do not appear to be grounded, they are not capacitors which are sometimes found across mechanical contacts to reduce spikes.

From the peculiar location of the items, I too doubt they are original. As stated in an earlier post, manufacturer and part number may assist in identification, then purpose.

Thanks for all the responses - it appears everyone is right. Art - you nailed it on the head again. The car was fitted with a dealer installed Blaupunkt radio. These are 1 and 3 mfd capacitors installed for radio noise suppression (one for AM and one for FM), stamped with Bosch and Germany. Believe it or not the car came with all the original radio documentation - if anyone is interested in the installation data for a Blaupunkt tailored to the TR4-A, it is here
Maybe if I ever get the problems fixed, I'll have time to read the owner's manuals. Oh well - guess I'll never read the owner's manuals
Thank again
Glenn

FWIW, I'd guess those cans contain both inductors and capacitors; possibly even two capacitors per can to form a Pi-section filter. If they were just simple capacitors, there would be no reason to have the current flow through the can (and the hook-up could be much easier).

Seems odd to put a filter in the brown/white wire ... bet Blaupunkt meant to put it in the brown/blue wire. The other capacitor was supposed to be installed at the generator, not at the regulator, too. Guess even the dealers sometimes got things wrong /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I agree it is probably a pi filter, the two wire connection threw me as I forgot (like many things from a past life) the use of the ground as the third circut connection.
