Please give me your opinion on the necessity of the TC Oil Pan Weep Hole. Seems like I loose quite a bit of oil every time I park the car. I understand that the Weep Hole was designed into the oil system to theoretically let dirt/particles out. Is this really necessary? I was thinking of somehow either trying to lessen the amount of oil lost through the hole or stop it completely.
My thought is that since there is quite a lot of drainage onto the ground every time I stop, this can't be very good for the environment today, knowing what we know about spilled oil making it's way into the water table. I want to be an environmentally responsible classic car owner, but I don't want to cause any engine damage to my 48 TC either. I don't drive it very much, just on weekends for a bit of fun.
Any TC owners on the forum that have mitigated or stopped this leak on your cars?
Thanks for your input.
