The steering is a little notchy and the suspension needs tightened up, alignment done and gearbox checked (whine), but the engine runs well. I ordered some new wire wheel hubs from Rimmer and will use the new wire wheels I have since there’s a tiny little click that needs addressing. I’m going thru every nut and bolt and making sure everything’s torqued down, wheel bearings, suspension, steering, etc. The engine has a little run on probably due to the compression and I’ll address that with better gas and a timing adjustment and see if that works. The brakes felt like metal on metal when I got it on the road for the first time, but a close inspection revealed that Jim did a good job on them and they just needed to be bedded…a few hard stops took care of that. Once all these little things are done I’ll be ready to put it on the road for some extended ‘testing’, won’t be fun at all!
I’m also starting to inventory all the parts for a few 67 4as I have in the barn in preparation of restoring one of them. I think I have most everything, full Skinner leather interior, new/rebuilt suspension, drivetrain, body parts, shiny bits, top and frame several wood dashes and instruments, sandblaster, rotisserie, blood, $$$$, epoxy primer, etc. I might even learn how to paint on one of these Royal Blue beauties. Engine choice is still up in the air and I have several TR4a and TR6 engines/transmissions to choose from as well as finished TR6 and 4a frames and I’m still wanting to do an engine swap.
