Reinstalling Rear End in a BE - Quick Steps

I face the prospect of needing to reinstall the rear end on Bugsy II on Saturday before loading on trailer. Got a dolly arrangement for a backup but would rather have on 4 wheels. Since I've never pulled a BE Rear end before, and don't know if all of the bolts are there. What really needs hooked up so I can get on 4 wheels for transport and loading. Here's what's back there now. now I need to reinstall LR Spring, attach radius rod and then attach rear end. Shocks and rebound strap Y/N. Trying to keep it simple. MOSS Catalog shows all of the parts and pieces but not how they all connect together.

PS - Shock and Spring. Radius Rod still bolted to Rear End
LS - Just Spring Mount Box/Plate. Assumption is radius rod bolted to rear end. Spring is not installed, still assembled but will need to locate parts and pieces needed to assemble to connect to rear end.

If you are just connecting it to make it roll, then use undersized bolts to make connections easier.

Jim Do you have both U bolts and the spring plate for the top of the unattached spring? Those the only non hardware store items you will need. I will get you a list of bolt and nut sizes for the rest later in the day. I got it almost completely laid out for reinstall on my car. Radius arms and springs should be all that you need to be attached. Make sure your drum will spin before hand.

Thanks Paul,

Looks like Nick found the can with the big bolts in it. What I can't yet confirm is if U Bolts and Spring plate is there. Radius arms appear to stil be attached to the rear end. Hopefully the braket the radius arm attaches to is still attached to the radius arm. Nick told me he'd go out and rummage in the parts to see if all else is there and might even see if he can fit it together for me. That would be a great help if he can at least validate all of the parts and pieces are there. This definitely will be a jig saw puzzle to solve. Bolts in this can look similiarly sized as what I fould on Bugsy with a 1/2 Elliptic Rear End.

I think a better diagram would be Moss UK at https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=1182#30

A few critical things you will need are 2 - 3 1/2" 3/8 24tpi bolts to attach the one spring plate, the U bolt and nuts ( you might get away not having one or the other just to get it to roll)to attach that spring also. Two 3 inch 7/16" bolts to attach the axle to the springs and 2 to 4 7/16" bolts to attach the radius arms to the body and axle. Two are 3 inch and two are 4 inch. There is also a radius arm spacer that you will need at some time, but not to get it rolling. That will get you rolling.

P.S. The 3 inch 7/16 bolts that attach the axle to the spring and the axle to the radius arm are D capped bolts (when you are looking for them).

Hopefully the braket the radius arm attaches to is still attached to the radius arm.

The bracket is still on the car. This got me organized Jim so at least I can put mine on the car in the next few days.

Here is a nice picture from 410 EAO that shows everything hanging.

The only thing that is critical is the spring to car attachment. The rest,as Trevor said, can be done with 5/16 bolts to get the car up on wheels and loaded.

Kurt.

Thanks Guys I forwarded this thread to Nick so he can try and locate all of these parts in the garage and cans of bolts and nuts. Getting closer.
