Hi all,
Relatively new mechanic here. I recently inherited my late father's 76 TR6 and want to get it back on the road. In the process of getting it started I have rebuilt the carbs, and now want to start on the distributor. I believe that a rebuild is in order so I ordered a rebuild kit from Moss. I have also ordered a pertronix electrical ignition (LU 166A). I don't know electrical stuff much at all so I feel a bit intimidated and I've struggled to find easy simple step type advice on how to proceed. I also believe the lucas coil is probably done for as well so I think that I need to order a new one. My questions for you experts are thus:
How can I figure out which exact coil to buy? Looking online and there are so many different ones that have all sorts of different specs. I bought a voltmeter but don't know how to really use it to check.
Are there any good guides out there for rebuilding distributors when I have all the replacement parts? I followed some easy guides for the carbs and would love something similar for the dizzy.
Thanks!
