Hello to all,
We are continuing our saga of rejuvenating the 1966 TR4A with IRS. Today the car left on a fabricated stand for frame repairs. Not sure when I will see it again. Lots of rusted areas in the rear half of the frame will be replaced.
In preparation for this step I removed the front and rear suspension completely. We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to unscrew the upper bump stops on both sides.
It appears that there are aluminum discs about 1"thick and the same diameter as the base of the rubber bump stop between the bump stop and the mounting point on the body. This spacer basically lowers the bump stop so it prevents upward travel of the rear arm even sooner than if the discs were not there,
What tricks (if any) are there for getting the disc off of the mounting stud? This part does not appear in any parts catalog or the shop manual. Should we just plan on making replacements from aluminum or poly?
