MGB Quick tire size question - MGB

The car I just bought has very old "165 SR 14" tires, Michelin XZX I believe.

What can I get to replace them?
Will 175 SR 14's fit? I can get a great deal at Costco on a set - starting next week $60 off a set of four Michelin's.
They don't have 165's though.

Les Schwab can special order a set of 165x60x14's or 165x80x14's but no 165x70x14's. Oh, at 2x the bottom line at Costco.

They fit just fine, Rick! 175/70's fit the '64 with no issues.

Thanks! There does seem to be a lot of room in the wheel wells. The guy at Costco said it should be good up to 185's but I'll stick with the 175's.

I got a set of 205's on my rostyle rims back when I had a B.

a lttle excessive, rubbed on hard cornering in the back, but no big deal..

they actually looked good..

totally filled the wheel well, right to edge of the fender.

I just got ride of my "traditional" narrow tires on my MGA, and have gone to a set of 195's on Saab Ronial wheels...
And what a difference it made..

due to the low profle of he tire, I'm sure Icould have gone wider..

If you want to keep the original diameter you will need to go with 175/70-14 or 185/65-14. I tried 195/50 on 15 inch minilites for a while, but the ride was very stiff and it would skate over bumps. The nylatron bushings I used did not help any. They looked good in the fenders. Now I run 175/70s on the original wheels for a stock appearance. I rides and handles well.

Steve, what's the name of that color?
That's what mine is supposed to look like - my new hood is already painted that color!

Oh, yes I'm getting the 175 70 R 14's.

Teal Blue. It should have just a hint of green to it when compared to a navy blue. You might want to look under the carpet to get a better look at it. Mine is a '73. I'm not sure if that color came on the '70, but it started sometime around then. Somebody probably knows for sure.

IIRC, Teal Blue was around in '70. A really nice color too, IMO.

Good! Plenty of tire there, no inner panel rub issues.

I run 195/60-15 on a set of SAAB Shelby's (15x5.5) on my B. They look great and fill the wheel wells nicely. However, I do have minor rubbing on the inside rear in turns with humps or dips. Then again, I also have a set of 1" spacers installed as well. If I went with slightly thinner (say 0.75") spacers, I'm certain there would be no rubbing at all.
