Popped freeze out plug 100 le mans

Popped a freeze out plug on my first day on my newly restored 100 le mans .....The car did not overheat..I am concerned with other issues.. Any ideas or thoughts I should be concerned about?

Hi Pete this is not an uncommon problem Probably just a case of the plug being marginally installed. There are rubber type expansion plugs you can install temporarily until you can reinstall the metal plug.---Fwiw--Keoke

Thanks for making me feel a little better..the engine was rebuilt by a previous owner who is deceased so I am unable to document half of the work.. I have done the other half over the past two years...Have not had a plug pop on any of the other dozen or so Healeys I have owned......will try not to expect the worse.

If one plug popped out I would VERIFY that the others are properly installed. The Fours used a domed type plug instead of the later cupped plugs.

When properly installed, the plug domes should have a very noticeable flat spot or even a dimple in their centers. If in doubt, they should be "tightened". There are five on the RH side of the block & two on the back side.

You were lucky this time, if it happens again there could be serious engine damage.
