Isn’t it the annoying “little things” can totally ruin a well thought out vehicle.
Warning: minor rant ahead.
Ok I’m renting a truck at the moment and was given a new 2006 Nissan Titan 2x4 crewcab. Now overall it’s a pretty nice truck and has lots & LOTs of room. The rear seat is huge especially when folded up for cargo compared to my 01’ F-150 Supercrew 4x4.
Performance wise, with it’s down right torquy 5.6L and its pretty close to what my 01' F-150’s “slightly” modified (Cat back, intake & some other stuff) 5.4L. But with the same mods it’d probably blow my truck away in a stop light Grand Prix. Have to admit that I’m a bit curious how the Titan 4x4 stacks up against mine with the same bolt-on modifications.
Anyway, the only short comings that really stand out to me are it’s poor ergonomics of the interior. Now some of this might be the result of “packaging” but why in the world would you have “automatic one touch” power windows (raise & lower) for both the driver & passenger and go cheap with “manually” adjustable side mirrors. Oh and I ain’t talking about the kind that has a little lever on the inside you can adjust – I’m talking about the kind of mirrors that you have to actually lower the window to put your hand on the mirror to adjust. In the case of the passenger mirror – you have to actually get out of the vehicle or have your passenger reach out of his window to adjust it for you.
Another annoying thing – is that every time I touch the column shifter, to go into drive or back into park – I can’t help but trip the windshield wiper stalk. Such a great product and yet they do stupid things like that makes me have to ask what the heck where the engineers thinking? Perhaps they feel that people shouldn’t complain as the truck has six cup holders and at least three 12v outlets.
I guess I'm spoiled as my 1978 928 has power windows & mirrors.
