They will still ship us on the west coast parts from the Goleta warehouse, so we will still have to pay taxes... yeah, we have to pay for Oct-o-mom's kids.

Actually, it's some of the STATES that are closing the sales tax loopholes, not the IRS. In NY, we have to pay a USE tax (equivalent to the sales tax) on anything bought from another state. Since it's so hard to keep track of, NY state has a "chart" that shows you how much you owe based on your income. It gets assesed when you file your state income taxes. Word has it that if you DON'T include it in your return, it sends up a red flag. I don't need that for the thirty or so bucks I have to send them! Besides, I certainly save alot more then that in sales taxes.

Technically most every state assesses a use tax on items you buy from out of state, some are getting more agressive about collecting it like New York, but you owe it regardless, what you mean some of you haven't been reporting it???

Mail order places generally collect the sales tax on purchase if they have a physical presence in the state, i.e. even if you order online from Barnes and Noble in whereever theit warehouse is, they will collect the sales tax if they have a retail store in your state.

For those who haven't ordered from Moss in the last week:

Move is currently taking place. I called Moss last week for a couple of parts for the windshield wiper system to be sent to Hendrix Wire Wheel who has my car there for a few repairs. I was told that the parts would have to be shipped from the CA warehouse as the NJ warehouse was closed for the move to VA.

We've read about it for a while, and now I guess they really are moving.

Well, I guess New Jersey and their, (User friendly), tax system, shoved another business out of the state. I have no idea how people can live there with their extremely high property taxes along with their daily cost of living. I think their among the highest in the nation.

Yes, that's right. Richmond, VA, about 60 miles down the pike from me.

A great place to do business, by the way. Relatively low taxes, good infrastructure, and most importantly, extremely intelligent, nice, friendly (and obviously, very good-looking) people.

It's good to have Moss's tax dollars, too. :lol:

Gonna miss having Moss in NJ. I have a client in Dover, and I would often stop by Moss when I'm doing business there. Very convenient and nice to see the merchandise. The Moss car show was also an event worth going to, plus they would run a promotional sale at the event...sweet except for the loooong line at the parts counter.
