I saw a couple snowflakes yesterday morning so I decided it was high time to get the hardtop on my 1500 Midget.
My soft top was nice and dry, which is a good time to fold it away for the winter.
I had bought a new front header rubber weatherstrip last spring, and it was still waiting for me to put it on the front of the hardtop.
Unfortunately last winter I didn't have the new rubber and wanted to try and get one more season out of the old one.
So I got this really great cold weather sealant / caulk called Lexol (I think) and I put it in there to seal and hold in the old rubber.
Remember (note to self) that if you get the best glue you can find and use it to attach something like weather strip then some poor fool will eventually have to remove that stuff.
That poor fool was me.
Ok - so after digging all that crap out I got my new weatherstripping put in and got the top on the car. It really didn't want to latch in the front due to the new rubber being a lot thicker than the old worn out stuff but with the help of a big tool for leverage it went in.
I'm always amazed at how much more visibility I have with the hardtop on, not as good as no top up at all but close.
Oh - 16 degrees at my house this morning, glad to have the HT on.
