Mk1 3000 side screens variations

I have a couple of sets of 3000 side screens (curtains I believe they call them in the USA)
while sorting the best of the bunch to go on my car I've noticed there are two different versions. On one the alloy frame is a one piece extrusion with drain vents along bottom edge and the other is a two piece frame whereby you can unscrew the outer section with approx a dozen small screws to remove the outer plexi glass.
i have an August 1959 car and wondered which one is correct

It sounds like you have an early 100-Six sidescreen, which is the one with the screws. The one piece version is correct for your car.

Richard - are there any markings on the bottom of the Plexiglas pieces on any sets that you have? thanks for checking

Hi yes it is stamped PERSPEX AS4 on a couple of them just on bottom of the rear window. Also the two piece screen frames I have have the outer part in two pieces all the way around the frame, not just for the rear window as shown in the healey six.net pics

Richard. I wonder if you have a set of the 'mystery' third type of sidescreen which is depicted in the drawing in the owners manual. There is a copy of the drawing at the bottom of the website page. Does your screen look like that?

Richard - thanks for the photos, I believe and I would hope that Derek would agree that is side curtains are not from the early 100-six Longbridge cars, due to the fact of the wide side posts on the front and rear of the screens

Jim, they do have wide posts but they could be replacements for the original thin ones.

These must be sidescreens for a Healey because the shape is unique to the car. They appear to be exactly like the ones in the drawing. Perhaps these are a very early set following which it was decided to have the screws on the inside because it looked better? Who knows, but I think these have got to be pretty rare.

So are the ones with the screwed surrounds 100/6? And the one piece type 3000. The guy that gave them to me said the screwed ones are NOS but looking I'd say they have had light use or stored badly. The rubbers look mint until you touch them and they split and disintegrate. Shame! Would be surprised if brackets have been replaced but you never know. There is remnants of some cloth tape behind the brackets if that makes a difference. Also as a aside, he gave me a set of MGA side screens that he tells me were Abingdon comps built. They are very nicely engineered (almost aircraft quality) but as yet been unable to place them as works and of which car. I'll try to add a pic in a while.
