T-Series MGtd looking at one Sunday-need some help

I usually am on the Mg midget site but I found a 1952 Mg Td near my house. I going to get it running Sunday-it sits in a large warehouse- it has sat for 5 years. I am checking it out to see if I want to buy it. It looks all there and has 56,000 miles(owner says). The owner says ok to get it started and is going to leave me alone to look it over-friend of a friend. 1. the tank of old gas? -how do I get it out-or leave it in and add gas. Seems to be about 3 inches in bottom of tank. Carbs-owner says to clean them and clean floats. If I get it started what else should I look for? thanks Jim

You may find out how much he's asking before you do all of the free, pre-sale labour for him.

If he's serious about selling, I would think that he would already have it ready to rock and roll.

Watch out for the brakes.

Battery most likely needs attention....and remember it's *probably* positive ground.

Take a look at Tony's "Awaken a sleeping B" article. It would apply here as well.

Good points-I thought about the free labor-but I do get to check it out for a few hours before I decide buy it. He has a garage full of old cars and does not seem to want to any further work on them. thanks Jim
