I am rebuilding a 1953 MGTD:
I am tring to replace the swivel pin which is pressed into the stub axle in the front suspension. I have successfuly disassembled the left side completely. I have gotten the steering lever arm out of the left side unit. I have two new swivel pins (left and right).
1) What is the best way to press in the new swivel pin? It is very tight. Is it just pressed in? What is the best tool to use and should it be lubed to assist in assembly, or do I turn the pin to reduce its diameter?
2) What is the best way to separate the other existing swivel pin from the stub axle? Again, what is the best tool and technique?
Any insight will be appreciated. Thanks.
