I bought a MGTD that is missing a lot of parts and the engine has has water in it for 7 years. I bought a 72 MGB-GT that has the lower body rusted out, donor car. I'm puting the 72 drive train in the TD and the Disk breaks on the front. Does this make me bad person? :I would like to show pictures of the condition when i bought it but don't know how to attach them.

I say better to modify a car than let it turn to dust in a field.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif but you no doubt will be condemned to heck by some purists, but unless they are willing to try to save it by buying it from you and "doing it right" with really big buck, ignore them. I am all in favor of saving any T series there is, but it looks like you are bringing back half of a parts car from the dead! Good luck! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Purists won't know unless you show it or open the bonnet every time you see someone who asks. As said, better to save what you can then throw it all out.

Loved the way it says "Horley Davison"...hmmm. And with only a little "miner" rust, too.

I saw that too but he did spell it correctly on another line.

haha - you know you have a small car when you replace the motor with a bike engine AND you have to create a hood bulge. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

I never noticed the hood bulge/scoop. I must say that really is ugly on such a small car. Maybe ugly on a big car.

Thank you for your comments, I now have the 72 rear end installed in the TD and the springs line up. I had to weld a spring adaptor plate to each side 3/8" wider on each side, turned out great. I'm working on the disk breaks, I ordered new king pins and it looks like a streight bolt up except for the tie rods are a little long approx.1/2" on each side.

BarryE. I could attach pictures if I knue how. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

I always wonder why I'm supposed to care what the "purist" thinks. The purist's I see trailer their TC's to a show, push it off onto little squares of carpet (so they don't dirty the tires) and proudly proclaim that the only miles put on the car since the restoration is driving back onto the trailer. I'm supposed to care what they think?
The MGCC or MGOC had a series about a guy who put a B engine & disk's on a TD, you might want to look up the achieves from either of their publications, “Enjoying MG" or "Safety Fast"

Thank you for the info. when I finish this car it will look good and I will drive it on nice days, it didn't come with side curtins and the top is bad. I go to Yuma Az in the winter. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif
